When wire becomes art: the works of Giovanna Bolognini

Mazzoleni renews its connection with art and innovation by hosting two extraordinary works by Giovanna Bolognini, a renowned sculptor from Bergamo in the field of plastic arts.

The artwork “Le fate dei venti” (2007-2008), previously exhibited at Arte Fiera in Paris and Bologna, is now located in the company’s internal courtyard. This sculpture represents the harmonious convergence of the four winds, a flow of positive energy reflected in the artwork’s feminine theme. The central figure, characterized by a wide skirt, embraces and supports with both softness and strength, evoking maternal protection. Made of iron wire, the sculpture originates from a raw and malleable material that, through welding and electrical treatment, takes on a rigid and definitive shape. The most fascinating aspect of this work is the ability to touch the raw material, experiencing its transformation and texture.

As a testament to Mazzoleni’s commitment to sustainability and innovation, in 2022 the artwork “Un filo per la sostenibilità” was created, dedicated to black annealed wire, one of the company’s key products. The sculpture was made using waste materials such as paper, plastic, and cans, which were later compacted and wrapped in black annealed wire, the same type used in paperboard packaging and recycling industries. This symbolic choice highlights the versatility of the material and its strategic role in waste recovery and processing. The artwork was showcased at Ecomondo 2022 and is now permanently displayed at the company’s headquarters in Bergamo.

Through this collaboration, Mazzoleni reaffirms its commitment to the fusion of industry and art, demonstrating how raw materials can be transformed not only into functional products but also into artistic creations that tell stories, convey values, and inspire future visions.
